Blankets and gifts that warm the heart
Channel your generosity and creativity for infants, children and adults for warmth, comfort and celebration.
About Heartwarmers
Heartwarmers is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose volunteers create fleece blankets and other gifts for children, adults and families in transition. We meet in Sisters, Bend and Redmond, working together to make simple (but delightful!) cut-and-tie blankets. Children’s blankets are paired with teddy bears, handmade by our volunteers; adult blankets are often bundled with hats, lotions, socks and bandanas. All of our gifts go to other non-profits for distribution to the children, adults and families they serve. Our partners include the Family Access Network, St. Charles Cancer Center and KIDSCenter, among others.
Zero Waste Philosophy
We’re dedicated to using every useable piece of the fleece we have purchased. In the process of making the blankets, squares are cut from the four corners of each piece of fleece and eventually made into soft blocks while smaller scraps are cut into pieces to use to stuff the blocks. Along with the blankets, these blocks are donated to several children’s non-profit organizations. Scrap materials are made into our packaged story hearts and pet toys.
Workshops
No experience needed, all supplies provided, just bring your smile!
Everything is supplied at our workshops. Bring your own scissors, if you would like, but all you really need is a smile! The workshops are fun and filled with chatter and laughter, so don’t be surprised if you make some new friends, too!
Come join the fun!
Beneficiaries
Our Central Oregon Partners
Currently, dozens of our more than 115 volunteers meet monthly to make blankets that are donated to local non-profits working with children, adults, and families in crisis. Three of our volunteers donate loom-knitted bears, each with a special and lovable personality. These bears are bundled with the children’s blankets.
Working with Oregon’s Social Service Departments, we also donate blankets each month to newly diagnosed adult cancer patients at Bend and Redmond St. Charles Medical Cancer Centers and Bend Memorial Clinic. These blankets are accompanied by hats and scarves also made by volunteers from our leftover fleece. Volunteers also donate lotion, women’s socks and men’s bandanas that are tied with the blanket.
